Intel questions whether AMD will make ATI chips
Apart from the financing of the ATI acquisition, Intel wants details of potential chip production at AMD fabs, as well as extensive details about the stable image platform that forms the plank of both the CPU manufacturers' corporate business.

Dell to equip AMD-based notebooks with ATI graphics chips
Forthcoming Dell's AMD-based notebooks, which are expected to be available in late October or early November, will be equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon graphics chips, according to sources at Taiwan notebook makers. Although it will not be the first time for the market to get AMD-based notebooks with ATI GPUs inside, Dell's offering will be the first launched after AMD's recent announcement of acquiring ATI for US$5.4 billion, the sources noted. Dell's decision to use ATI GPUs in AMD-based notebooks indicates that the impact of AMD's acquisition of ATI on the PC industry will likely start intensifying in the near future, the sources said.

Lenovo gets second helping of AMD chips
Lenovo is expanding its use of Advanced Micro Devices chips with the introduction of a second line of AMD-based desktop computers. The new A60 series is the first ThinkCentre-branded desktop personal line with an AMD processor to be made available worldwide, a Lenovo representative said Monday. Computers with the brand are aimed at medium and large businesses, and the ThinkCentre A60 is slated to be announced later today. The increase in Lenovo's use of the chips is another sign of AMD's advances in its tussle with rival Intel. Lenovo is the world's third-largest PC seller, but most of its strength lies in its home base of China and similar markets. The majority of the computers it ships are Intel-based notebooks sold under the ThinkPad brand, which it acquired from IBM. In China, Lenovo has been selling AMD-based PCs for some time, the company representative said.
